A coordinating meeting was held Sunday here discussed ways to enhance cooperation between government entities and international organizations working in the field of environment and sustainable development.
The meeting, which included representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Fisheries, the Ministry of Water and Environment, the Climate Change Unit, and the UN-Habitat, addressed coordination mechanisms for implementing joint programs and projects that align with the increasing challenges posed by climate change and its impacts on agriculture, natural resources, and water management.
Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Fisheries emphasized that the environmental challenges facing Yemen require enhanced joint coordination between government entities and international organizations, as this is the true entry point for developing realistic and sustainable solutions. They noted that the agriculture and fisheries sector is one of the most affected by climate change, necessitating the adoption of long-term strategies based on sound planning, effective initiatives, and community participation.
For their part, representatives from the Climate Change Unit in the Ministry of Water and Environment and UN-Habitat highlighted the major environmental challenges facing Yemen, especially in light of global climate changes.
They affirmed their commitment to supporting national efforts in this regard and contributing to the preparation and implementation of sustainable projects that support local communities.
