Al-Zubaidi received U.S. Chargé d'Affaires
[29/06/2025 07:02]

RIYADH - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidarus al-Zubaidi met Sunday with the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires to Yemen Jonathan Pecha.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the political and humanitarian situations in Yemen, amidst the ongoing economic crisis and its severe impacts on the humanitarian situation.

The meeting discussed urgent need for regional and international support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to provide services to citizens, support development projects, and enhance the capabilities of financial and service institutions.

General al-Zubaidi emphasized the necessity of intensifying international efforts to support the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in activating state institutions and normalizing service and living conditions.

He pointed out that the success of the government in the liberated areas is a crucial factor for stability on the path to restoring security and peace in the country.

The meeting also addressed military developments, particularly the ongoing mobilization operations by the Houthi militias across various fronts, their military escalation in conflict zones, and the continued serious violations against civilians in areas under their control, including killings, arrests, and torture of innocent civilians, which threaten peace prospects and exacerbate humanitarian suffering.

In this context, the council member affirmed that peace and stability in Yemen cannot be achieved without eliminating the Houthi threat and finding just solutions to key conflict issues, including the southern issue, and supporting the country to overcome the economic crisis caused by the Houthi war.

For his part, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires reiterated his country's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and its commitment to restoring security and stability in Yemen and the region.

He confirmed that Washington is closely monitoring field developments and working alongside regional and international partners to end humanitarian suffering and build a just and sustainable peace in Yemen.
