[29/06/2025 06:34]

ADEN - SABA
Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Breik has directed the preparation of a realistic and feasible plan to re-operate Aden refineries.

The refineries will fulfill their vital role in securing the local market's needs for petroleum derivatives and boosting the national economy, as they are one of the main economic and investment pillars for the city of Aden.

During his meeting on Sunday with the leadership of the Aden refineries, the Prime Minister affirmed the commitment to support the implementation of the Cabinet's decision to restore the refineries' activity in accordance with the free zone system, as they are located within the Aden Free Zone, Sector (A).

He emphasized the importance of revitalizing the role of the refineries in storage, ship fueling, re-exporting and asphalt production, among other activities.

He noted that restoring the significance of this strategic facility requires everyone to take responsibility and work as a unified team.

The Prime Minister was briefed by the leadership of the Aden refineries on clarifications regarding several issues related to the restart of the refineries, the obstacles they face, and proposed solutions.

This includes efforts to complete the first phase of the power plant project, its operation as a free zone, as well as storage, ship fueling, refining, importing derivatives, and quality control.

They indicated that in the coming days, two units for asphalt production will be re-operated to meet all local market needs, in addition to completing work on a diesel and mazut refining unit with a production capacity of 6,000 barrels per day.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to overcome the imbalances that prevailed in previous periods, holding accountable anyone found involved in corrupt practices or negligence that contributed to the disruption of this vital economic edifice.

He instructed the refinery leadership to focus on preparing comprehensive modernization plans based on economic feasibility to achieve a qualitative leap in performance, production, and services.
