A meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Nizar Basuhayb, discussed the results of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis for the period from May 2025 to February 2026 in liberated areas.
The meeting, attended by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, as well as representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP), reviewed the current and projected food security situation in the liberated governorates.
The analysis revealed that 49% of the population in the liberated governorates are currently in Phase 3 or above of food insecurity, with this percentage expected to rise to 53% during the projected period from September 2025 to February 2026.
These numbers indicate a deteriorating situation compared to the previous year.
