RABAT - SABA
Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affaires met Thursday in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, with Chen Weiqing, the Director-General of the West Asia and North Africa Department at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries and coordinate positions in regional and international forums.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 20th meeting of senior officials and the 9th strategic political dialogue of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, emphasized the depth of the historical and diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, dating back to 1956, and the continuous development in various fields.

Dr. Bajash praised China's supportive positions for constitutional legitimacy in Yemen under the leadership of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi and its balanced role in promoting dialogue and peace.

He affirmed the Yemeni government's aspiration to expand economic and developmental cooperation with China within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and invited China to contribute to reconstruction efforts.

The two parties also discussed the latest developments in Yemen amid ongoing Houthi violations and the disruption of the peace roadmap, along with the escalation in the Red Sea, exploiting weak slogans and justifications to threaten the security of international navigation and undermine peace efforts.

They also deliberated on the positive role China could play in supporting peace efforts.

At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed the importance of activating mechanisms for bilateral coordination to facilitate the exchange of visits between government agencies, enhance trade, and ease procedures between the two friendly countries.
