The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Mohammed al-Zaouri has confirmed the government's commitment to enhancing the role of Yemeni women and empowering them politically and economically.
He affirmed ensuring their active participation in community issues and achieving sustainable development.
This came during his meeting Monday here with Dina Zorba, the representative of UN Women in Yemen, to discuss ways to develop cooperation between the ministry and the agency, particularly regarding the implementation of the "Women's Protection Leading to Community Development" program.
Minister al-Zaouri emphasized the importance of the program, which will last for 12 months in Aden and Taiz, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
He explained that it aims to enhance the protection of women and girls who have survived gender-based violence and empower them to contribute to the development process.
Al-Zaouri appreciated the support of the United Nations for women's issues, confirming the ministry's commitment to expanding partnership areas to implement effective and sustainable interventions that enhance women's participation in peacebuilding and humanitarian work.
For her part, the UN official expressed the organization's readiness to provide technical support and capacity building for the ministry, local authorities, and civil society organizations, enabling Yemeni women to actively participate in shaping the country's future and achieving comprehensive development.
