Vice Foreign Minister Mustafa Numan Saturday here with Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Tim Lenderking, Acting U.S. Envoy to Yemen Megan Stewart, Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory DeLugrivo and several department heads and officials from the State Department.

During the meeting, they discussed ongoing efforts to counter and weaken the Houthi terrorist militias, as well as the economic and humanitarian challenges and the needs and priorities of the Yemeni government.

Ambassador Numan emphasized that neutralizing the threats posed by the Houthi militias and weakening their capabilities requires a comprehensive approach that includes partnership with the government and enhancing its economic and military capacities.

He affirmed that securing navigation in the Red Sea is an internal interest for Yemen and an external one for the countries of the region and the world, necessitating the restoration of stability, security, and economic recovery within Yemen.

The Vice Foreign Minister also reviewed the economic and humanitarian challenges in Yemen and their implications for the political landscape and the living conditions of citizens. He stressed the importance of supporting the government to address these priorities and highlighted the ongoing role of the United States in humanitarian and developmental efforts.

For his part, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State reaffirmed the United States' support for the Yemeni government and people, expressing their commitment to addressing terrorist threats and working closely with the Yemeni government.
