Vice Foreign Minister Mustafa Noman met Tuesday here with the Acting USTreasury Assistant Secretary Anna Morris.
During the meeting, they discussed the partnership between the Yemeni government and the U.S. government to implement the decision to classify the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization, aiming to isolate and dry up the funding sources of the militias, support the Yemeni government and ensure the continued delivery of essential needs to citizens.
Ambassador Mustafa Noman praised the U.S. administration's decision to reclassify the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist group, noting that this was a natural result of the terrorist practices of the Houthis both domestically and internationally. He highlighted the role played by various U.S. institutions in targeting and pursuing the tools and means used by the militias to finance their war against the Yemeni people, destabilize the region and threaten international shipping routes, emphasizing the importance of partnership with the government across various sectors and providing technical and logistical support.
For her part, the U.S. official stated that confronting Houthi terrorism and weakening the militias' capabilities through various means, including targeting and drying up funding and arms sources, is a priority for the U.S. administration.
She affirmed that the U.S. government is keen to ensure that the humanitarian situation is not adversely affected and that essential needs for citizens are met.
