Member of Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi received the British Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif here on Thursday.

They discussed bilateral relations, the latest developments in national and regional situations and ways to coordinate between the two friendly countries on various issues of mutual interest.

The meeting addressed the political, economic and military developments, as well as the Houthi terrorist militia's obstinacy and its continued acts of terrorism against the Yemeni people, including its terrorist attacks in the Red Sea that threaten regional and global security.

They discussed the necessary steps to enhance the state’s capabilities to maintain security and international navigation.

Dr. al-Alimi praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the United Kingdom, highlighting British humanitarian and developmental interventions in various fields.

He stressed that the economic and humanitarian situation in Yemen requires increased support.

For her part, the British Ambassador reaffirmed her country’s support for the Yemeni government and its efforts across various sectors.

She mentioned indicators of a coordinated British plan with relevant authorities to mobilize international support aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, improving livelihoods, supporting economic recovery opportunities, and enhancing public services provided to citizens.

She reiterated her country’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council and to Yemen's security and stability.
