Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak has instructed the government delegation participating in the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings which commence Monday in Washington to focus on urgent priorities and present the economic recovery plan and the ongoing reform program to secure the necessary funding.
During a virtual meeting he chaired with the government delegation, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to build on the discussions he held with the International Monetary Fund during his visit last January.
He called for the development of a special program to expand the Fund's activities and interventions in Yemen, facilitating access to developmental funding and loans.
He highlighted the importance of showcasing the steps the government has taken in the reform process, enhancing transparency and accountability, combating corruption, and outlining the international support needed in this regard.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Ahmed Ghaleb, along with Ministers of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Badhib, Finance Salem Bin Breik, Water and Environment Tawfik Al-Sharjabi and Electricity and Energy Mani'e bin Yameen provided briefings on the preparatory meetings for this important annual event, the visions and programs to be presented, and the expected outcomes.
They confirmed that there is a clear and unified plan to be presented at the Spring Meetings to secure the required support.
The meeting discussed the documents and plans that will be presented, as well as the government’s vision regarding various economic and financial issues, in addition to coordinating with the international community regarding the classification of the Houthi group as a foreign terrorist organization.
