MARIB-SABA
The Deputy Governor of Marib Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah met with Deputy Representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Yemen Simon Holima to discuss the role of WFP interventions in alleviating the food crisis in the governorate.
The meeting highlighted the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Marib, exacerbated by declining humanitarian funding, economic crisis, currency devaluation, rising food prices, and lack of job opportunities.
The parties reviewed the growing gap in needs and the impact of reduced funding on WFP's performance, assistance, and food distribution.
Simon Holima said the WFP is committed to assessing and monitoring the humanitarian situation on the ground, strengthening partnerships, and exploring ways to address needs.
