WASHINGTON-SABA
The United States of America warned countries and companies against dealing with ports under the control of the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime, or providing any kind of support to them.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said in a statement that Washington would not tolerate any country or commercial entity that provides support to foreign terrorist organizations, such as the Houthis, including unloading ships and supplying them with oil at ports under their control.
"
Washington considers such practices to be a violation of U.S. law", Bruce said.
On March 5, 2025, the US State Department designated the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization, in implementation of one of President Trump's first promises when he took office.
In Executive Order 14175, President Trump made clear that Houthi activities threaten the security of U.S. civilians and workers in the Middle East, the safety of our closest regional partners, and the stability of maritime trade.
