Yemen Says Houthi Militia Poses Direct Threat to Regional Peace, Condemns Attacks on Gulf Infrastructure
Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Yemen participates in session for Economic and Social Council in Cairo

The Republic of Yemen participated today in the extraordinary session of the Economic and Social Council at the senior officials level, held at the General Secretariat of the Arab League in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with a delegation headed by Mohammed al-Humaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for Foreign Trade.

The meeting, chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain, discussed the agenda and the preparations for the economic and social file to be submitted to the Arab League Council at the summit level (2025), as well as the preparations for the fifth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit (2025).

The meeting reviewed reports, initiatives, and agenda items, including a report on Arab joint economic, social, and developmental work and the follow-up on the implementation of the decisions from the fourth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Beirut.
It examined the Blue Economy initiative as a means to address food and energy issues in the Arab world, the Arab initiative for artificial intelligence aimed at technological leadership and sustainable development, the Arab strategy for food security 2025-2035, developments in the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, and the completion of requirements for establishing the Arab Customs Union, as well as the solar energy project for household subscribers in Palestinian camps and the development of small ruminants in the Arab region.

The meeting also addressed several topics and issues on the agenda, including investment in health human resources, the preparation of an Arab strategy for the development of school and university health, and a comprehensive development plan for the technical and vocational education system in Arab countries as a gateway to development, as well as the strategic framework and executive action plan for the regional program for the economic and social empowerment of Arab women and sustainable financing in the Arab region.
