Statistical Organization holds meeting to discuss population estimates for 2025

A technical meeting was held today by the Central Statistical Organization here to discuss population estimates for the year 2025, with the participation of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and relevant government agencies.

The Head of the Central Statistical Organization Dr. Safaa Mu'ti emphasized the importance of reviewing population estimates and their role in supporting development plans and humanitarian response, as well as shaping development policies.

She pointed out that these estimates form the foundation for developmental planning and humanitarian response efforts.
Dr. Safaa Mu'ti stressed the necessity for these estimates to be based on accurate and updated data, which requires the concerted efforts of all relevant government entities to establish a reliable national population database that is continuously updated.

For his part, the Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen Saeed Harasi, highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the UN and the government to ensure the accuracy of population estimates, mentioning the role of the United Nations Population Fund in this regard.
