PM convenes plenary meeting with EU Ambassadors

The Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak held a plenary meeting with the head of the European Union (EU) Mission in Yemen Gabriel Venalis, a number of the EU countries Ambassadors and the Australian ambassador to the Republic of Yemen.

The meeting, which held via video conference technology, aimed to discuss the latest developments on the national scene and the needed European support for the government to manage challenges.

The Ambassadors of France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Greece contributed to the discussions which focused on the EU's crucial role in supporting Yemen through diplomatic efforts, humanitarian aid and economic support as well as supporting the Yemeni Coast Guard to combat smuggling and securing international navigation.

The discussions touched on the EU countries' support for the government's efforts to carry out the economic recovery plan and the five tracks of the Prime Minister to ensure the effectiveness of institutions, enhance interventions in the vital sectors.

The Prime Minister detailed the EU Ambassadors on the developments of the economic, political, military, security and humanitarian fields.

He highlighted the government's vision to achieve economic and services stability and address the decline in the national currency exchange rate, to alleviate the living suffering of citizens.

Bin Mubarak made it clear that the government's top priority is to carry out the economic recovery plan, go on the main reforms to raise the efficiency of government institutions and control corruption and enhance transparency and accountability.

He cited the measures taken in this aspect, including the abolition of all energy contracts purchased, which were a major source of financial mismanagement and corruption.

Bin Mubarak stated that the government is keenly seeking to develop partnership and coordination with the European countries.

The Prime Minister reassured the humanitarian community and international partners that the government is going to take the necessary measures to direct the requirements of the designation the Houthi militia as a Foreign Terrorist Organization towards its main goals that aimed to dismantle the militias' terrorist structure without damaging the interests of the fellow citizens, relief assistance and food imports.

The EU Ambassador affirmed their full support for the government and its efforts to carry out the economic recovery plan, go on the path of reforms, coordinate to mobilize international support for the public budget in order to achieve economic and service stability.

They also confirmed their support for the Prime Minister's vision and the paths he is working on, voicing their keenness to support the Yemeni Coast Guard forces.
