MARIB-SABA
Marib Governor's Deputy, Dr. Abd Rabbuh Miftah, held separate meetings with UNICEF's Head of Child Protection, William Colley, and Norwegian People's Aid's Project Coordinator, Samah Al-Badani, to discuss the humanitarian situation in Marib Governorate.
The meetings focused on the growing humanitarian needs in the governorate, driven by ongoing displacement and economic inflation. Deputy Miftah emphasized the importance of expanding humanitarian interventions to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons, who now reside in over 200 camps.
With UNICEF, discussions centered on the progress of humanitarian projects and interventions supporting displaced populations. The Norwegian People's Aid meeting explored areas of humanitarian partnership, particularly in mine clearance and demining efforts in liberated areas.
Deputy Miftah stressed the urgency of continued and expanded humanitarian support to prevent a looming humanitarian disaster, as some organizations withdraw or reduce their presence. He appealed to the United Nations and international organizations to uphold their humanitarian duties and provide essential aid and relief to displaced persons and host communities.
