Yemen's Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Muammar al-Eryani, has participated in the 13th Conference of Ministers of Culture in the Islamic World, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.

The conference held by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) focused on the impact of culture on social and economic development, and it was attended by several high-profile guests, including the President of Tatarstan, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Director General of ICESCO.

During his speech, Minister Al-Eryani highlighted the significant challenges that Yemen is facing in terms of preserving its cultural identity, including the destruction of mosques, schools, and archaeological sites, as well as the looting of museums and rare manuscripts sold in the black market for the illicit enrichment of the terrorist Houthi militia.

He emphasized the need for increased cooperation between countries to protect cultural heritage and promote Islamic values.

Minister Al-Eryani also stressed the importance of launching joint initiatives to support creators, rebuild cultural institutions, and stimulate cultural creativity. He noted that Yemen has a rich cultural history, dating back to the kingdoms of Saba and Himyar, and that it is essential to preserve this legacy for future generations.
