His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Wednesday, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) to the Republic of Yemen Abda Sharif.
The meeting aimed to discuss the national and regional developments, ways of the coordination between the two countries about different issues of common interest.
The conversations touched on the government's reforms, the needed international support to cope with the economic crisis and to mitigate the disastrous repercussions of the Houthis terrorist attacks on the oil facilities and marine shipping lanes.
President al-Alimi celebrated the robust Yemeni-British relationships, deeply appreciating the British significant humanitarian and development in various areas.
He also greatly valued the UK's initiatives and efforts to mobilize support for the Yemeni state institutions and to boost its capacities in order to be able to manage the economic hardships which have been further exacerbated by the terrorist Houthi militias' attacks on the oil falsities and maritime shipping lanes.
The President detailed the British Ambassador on the latest developments in the Yemeni arena and the measures taken by the government to improve the national currency and to relocate all government institutions inside the country first and foremost the PLC and the government as well as to accelerate the implementation of the Economic Rescue Plan.
The talks also touched on the escalation by the terrorist Houthi militias in several frontlines, beside the militias' gross violations of human rights and the needed international pressures to get the militias release the employees of the UN and humanitarian organizations.
The Chairman of the PLC expressed his condolences to the UN, humanitarian community and the family of the worker of the World Food Program in Yemen who passed away in the jails of the Houthi militias in Saada governorate.
His Excellency made it clear that supporting the Yemeni government and endorsing the punitive measures against the terrorist militias is the only single approach to deter these militias and to force them to stop their adventures at both the national and regional levels.
