Parliament Speaker, American Ambassador discuss efforts to make peace

The Speaker of Parliament Sulatan al-Barakani met today, Sunday, with the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin to discuss the developments and the ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.

The conversations covered a range of topical issues including the challenges the Yemeni people have been experiencing, Yemeni-American joint cooperation to manage the economic, development and humanitarian challenges and the needed support by the US administration to support the Yemeni government to improve its capacities so that it can relocate its all institutions in the temporary capital Aden and to deliver on its obligations and allay the Yemeni people's suffering.

Al-Barakani cited the challenges facing the peace process in Yemen amid the continuing escalation by the terrorist Houthi militias.

He applauded the decision of the American administration to re-designate the Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
The American Ambassador restated his administration is committed to support the Yemeni people and to work with the regional and international partners to manage the challenges.
