Governor of Socotra Engineer Raafat al-Theqali discussed Wednesday with Dr. Awad al-Qasim, the Director General of the Social Fund for Development - Mukalla Branch Labor-Intensive Projects are being implemented by the fund in the governorate.
The governor emphasized the local authority's ongoing commitment to facilitating the fund's work in executing various projects on the island, including cash-for-work initiatives.
He stressed the importance of prioritizing the marketing of projects that focus on roads and difficult terrains that are frequently damaged during rainfall seasons, aiming to ease the movement of citizens and promote tourism, especially since the area is known for its distinctive tourist sites.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Social Fund for Development explained that their visit to the governorate aims to review projects under implementation and visit several areas to understand their requirements and needs in line with the fund's existing standards.
The Social Fund for Development - Mukalla Branch is currently implementing 10 Labor-Intensive Projects (cash-for-work) involving paving, improving paths, and creating pedestrian pathways to Hooq Cave, rehabilitating agricultural gardens, and establishing rainwater harvesting tanks in several areas of the governorate, with a total cost of $1,441,000.
