Al-Bahsani launches resumption of flights between Riyan and Cairo Airports

Council Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Faraj al-Bahsani inaugurated Sunday the resumption of direct flights between Riyan International Airport in Mukalla, Hadhramaut Governorate, and Cairo International Airport in the Arab Republic of Egypt, after a hiatus of more than ten years.

Al-Bahsani confirmed that the resumption of these flights represents an important step in enhancing communication between Yemen and the Republic of Egypt.

He praised the efforts made by the leadership of the Ministry of Transport, Yemenia Airlines, and the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology to achieve this accomplishment.

He appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the local authority in Hadhramaut and the relevant entities, which contributed to the reactivation of this vital route.

Al-Bahsani noted that this step aims to enhance air transport services and provide accessible options for travelers, emphasizing the importance of the continuity of these flights due to their positive impact on transportation and humanitarian and commercial communication between the two brotherly countries.

He valued the efforts of the Egyptian authorities and their significant cooperation in granting the necessary permits to resume the flights, commending the support and facilities provided by the Egyptian government, which reflect the depth of the historical and brotherly relations between the two countries.

The council member also praised the support provided by the Arab Coalition countries, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and highlighted the UAE's support for Al-Riyan International Airport, as the UAE has rehabilitated the airport and equipped it with the latest devices and necessary equipment.

For his part, Minister of Transport Dr. Abdulsalam Hamid expressed his happiness at the launch of the resumption of flights between Riyan and Cairo airports, explaining that this launch is the result of collaborative efforts between the political leadership represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government represented by the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated agencies and institutions, as well as the local authority in Hadhramaut.

He confirmed that this launch will alleviate the suffering of the people of Hadhramaut.
Dr. Hamid stated: "Riyan International Airport, which is the third largest airport in Yemen, is regaining its status today—after the launch of the resumption of flights between it and Cairo Airport—significantly, as international flights now include (Riyan to Dubai, Riyan to Jeddah, Riyan to Cairo)."

He pointed out that the leadership of the Ministry of Transport gives special attention to Hadhramaut Governorate due to its multiple air, sea, and land gateways.

The Minister of Transport expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the President and members of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni Ambassador in Cairo for their efforts in communicating with their brothers in the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding this issue.

He also praised the efforts of Major General Faraj Salmin Al-Bahsani during his tenure as Governor of Hadhramaut in facilitating many procedures that resulted in launching several international flights from Al-Riyan Airport.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Local Council in Hadhramaut Governorate, Saleh al-Umqi, highlighted the joint work between various government entities.
