A delegation from the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority met Saturday with the Director of the Mediterranean and Middle East Department at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Maurizio Griganti.

The delegation was headed by the Vice Chairwoman Jamila Ali Rajah and including members from the Political Committee, Economic and Social Committee and the Reconciliation and Transitional Justice Committee.

During the meeting, they reviewed the political and security developments in Yemen, as well as the deteriorating economic situation due to the current crisis and the Houthi terrorist militias' attacks on oil export ports, international shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and on civilians in liberated areas.

The meeting emphasized the importance of transitioning humanitarian aid to recovery and working with donors based on the government's recovery plan and its pathways.

For his part, Ambassador Maurizio Griganti reaffirmed Italy's supportive stance for peace in Yemen and the internationally recognized government represented by the Presidential Leadership Council.

Victoria Florinder, head of the mediation support team at the European External Action Service, expressed the importance of working with the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority and praised its role in fostering rapprochement among political components and forces to reach solutions.

She stated that the European Union is interested in the success of this initiative, which includes various political components working towards achieving lasting and comprehensive peace in Yemen.

This visit the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority's delegation to Italy is part of the cooperation and joint coordination between the European Union and the Authority.
