MARIB - SABA
The Deputy Governor of Marib Dr. Abd-Rabu Miftah discussed Sunday with the Water and Environmental Sanitation Coordinator at the Country Office of the International Takaful Organization Khader Ajaj areas of cooperation and partnership with organization.
The two parties discussed the organization’s action plan for this year regarding humanitarian projects in the governorate, and the possibility of expanding these efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced individuals in the region.
Deputy Governor Miftah pointed out the negative impacts resulting from the deteriorating living conditions of the displaced and the host community, including the spread of diseases and malnutrition among children, especially in light of the increasing humanitarian needs, primarily for food, water, shelter, health and education.
He stated that international and UN organizations should fulfill their role in providing aid and relief efforts as a humanitarian duty to the displaced in the governorate, who make up more than 62% of the total displaced population in Yemen, while also focusing on infrastructure projects and sustainable development.
He commended the efforts of the International Takaful Organization through the projects implemented over the past two years, expressing his hope to expand interventions and projects to relieve pressure on local authorities in addressing the growing needs of the displaced and the host community.
For his part, the representative of the International Takaful Organization clarified that the organization’s plan for this year includes emergency response projects and basic service projects.
The plan also includes recovery initiatives that engage the workforce of the displaced, such as agricultural projects and sustainable development initiatives aimed at assisting government institutions in meeting needs and serving citizens.
