[28/12/2024 05:45]
ADEN - SABA
Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Buhybeh launched Monday here the Artificial Limbs and Rehabilitation Program in Yemen for 2025.

This initiative is implemented by the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims, supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.

The project will be executed in four centers focused on humanitarian interventions supporting amputees and individuals with mobility impairments in the governorates of Aden, Marib, Taiz and Hadhramaut.

In the upcoming year 2025, it will provide specialized free health services to those with mobility disabilities.

During the inauguration ceremony attended by the Deputy Ministers of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Nazar Basuhaib and Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Abdullah Dahan, Minister Buhybeh emphasized the critical importance of this project in caring for a significant segment of society affected by incidents caused by the terrorist Houthi militias, which have planted mines throughout the country.

He noted that this disaster will continue to affect the country for many years.

He explained that attention to individuals with disabilities is part of the plans and programs of the Ministry of Health, which will see significant advancements in the coming phase, supported by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, positively impacting services provided in the liberated governorates.

He praised the efforts of the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims in restoring hope to many who have suffered disabling incidents.

He called on all organizations to follow the lead of the association in strengthening institutional relations with the Ministry of Health, directing the health office directors in targeted governorates to make optimal use of this support, integrate these programs into the health system, and strive to train healthcare personnel according to needs and adopt rehabilitation programs in relevant health institutes for prosthetics and rehabilitation.

For his part, the Director of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Relief in Aden Saleh Al-Dhibani emphasized the importance of launching this project to support people with special needs, as they represent one of the most vulnerable groups requiring humanitarian assistance to alleviate the physical, psychological, and social impacts of conflict, traffic accidents, and diseases such as diabetes. He noted that establishing these centers is part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

Al-Dhibani reviewed the center's services, including the manufacturing and fitting of prosthetic limbs, physical therapy and rehabilitation services and specialized treatment for congenital disabilities and other impairments.

He reaffirmed that the Program in Yemen, with the aforementioned free services, contributes to alleviating the psychological and physical effects on individuals with disabilities while enhancing local capacities by facilitating the training of specialized technical staff in the fields of prosthetics and orthopedics to improve service quality.

Moreover, Dr. Mohammad Darba, the Regional Director of the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims, outlined the various stages that the four artificial limbs centers managed by the association have undergone with the support of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Relief and in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Population.

He highlighted the accomplishments achieved since 2020, which have benefited 107,569 individuals who received 292,056 free quality services, including the fitting of 10,684 prosthetic and orthotic devices, along with 96,855 medical and technical consultations.

Dr. Darba acknowledged the vital role played by the government in strengthening humanitarian efforts and appreciated all organizations working in this field, commending the unwavering support from the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Relief, which has significantly contributed to the success of various activities.

During the launch ceremony, four agreements for 2025 were signed regarding the Artificial Limbs and Rehabilitation Project in four Yemeni governorates, funded by the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Relief and executed by the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims.
