[15/12/2024 06:56]

RIYADH- SABA
The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Sultan al-Arada discussed today, Sunday, with the Ambassador of the UK to the Republic of Yemen Abda Sharif over the developments in the Yemeni national arena, the efforts to make peace and bilateral relations between the two countries.

The talks covered a wide range of topical issues including the political, economic and humanitarian situations, the ongoing efforts to establish the comprehensive peace in Yemen, Iran's continuous spoiler role in Yemen and its insistence on imposing its expansion policies in Yemen by supporting the terrorist Houthi militias.

The Houthi militias' continuing escalation and attacks on the commercial ships and international marine navigation in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea were also touched upon.

Al-Arada blamed the continuation of the Iranian interventions for prolonging the conflict in Yemen and worsening the humanitarian and economic situations as well as undermining all regional and international efforts to reach an inclusive, fair and permanent settlement and establish peace in Yemen.

The Member of the PLC highly praised the British support for the Yemeni government's efforts to manage the challenges the country has been facing, highlighting the need for more support to the development process in Yemen.

Al-Arada called on the UK to activate its strategic role in the Yemeni file. He said " We're looking forward to greater British role in mobilizing and joining the international efforts to stop the Iranian spoiler role in Yemen and mount pressures on the Houthi militias to get them deal constructively with the peace process".

He stressed that it is very important for any regional or international good offices or efforts aiming to bring peace in Yemen to adhere to the three peace references, including the GCC's Initiative, its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UNSCR 2216.
The British Ambassador reiterated her country's commitment to support the peaceful solutions in Yemen and continue to work with all parties to support the peace process, re-establish security and stability.
