Woman National Committee highlights gov't's efforts to empower women

The Chairwoman of the Woman National Committee (WNC) Dr. Shafiqa Saeed underlined the Yemeni government's significant efforts to empower the Yemeni women despite the challenges Yemen has been experiencing due to the Iranian regime backed Houthi terrorist militias' coup and war.

" The government has engaged woman in the Supreme Judicial Council, the highest judicial authority for the first time in the country", said Shafiqa, adding " the government has launched the national plan for women development in the local administration in government-held governorates for 2024-2026".

Speaking at the 12th Session of the Women's Committee of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), held in the Sultanate of Oman, the Chairwoman of the NWC cited the government's efforts aimed at combating violence against women through the establishment of a department for the protection of women and children in the security departments and the establishment of a division to combat electronic crimes.
