Agriculture Minister, French Ambassador discuss future cooperation projects

RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Agriculture, Irrigations and Fishery Salem al-Soqatri discussed today, Thursday, with the French Ambassador to Yemen Katherine Corm Kammoun and the Regional advisor for Food, Fishery and Agriculture, the Economic Attaché at the embassy Stefan Sander the future cooperation projects between the two countries.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the Conference of the Parties to Combat Desertification (COP16), presently being held in Riyadh.

The conversations covered aspects of cooperation in developing marine monitoring and inspection systems, modern irrigation systems, enhancing agricultural production through the use of innovative technologies, and providing support to local fishermen to improve the quality of fish production and increase its exports.

Al-Soqatri highlighted Yemen's need to benefit from French experiences in the management of agricultural and water resources, besides cooperation in marine fishing businesses.

the French ambassador expressed her country's willingness to support Yemen, provide technical assistance and expertise to improve the efficiency of the use of natural resources in Yemen.

Kammoun stressed that is important to firm up the partnership between the two sides to serve the mutual interests of the two countries.
