TAIZ-SABA
The Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan discussed Tuesday with Deputy Director of the World Food Program (WFP) office in Aden Rashid Hammad the procedures related to the reduction of the province's food aid allocation.
They explored mechanisms and criteria to ensure that aid reaches those who genuinely need it.
During the meeting, attended by several executive office directors and district managers, the governor welcomed the WFP delegation and emphasized the local authority's commitment to providing a conducive environment for the program and all international organizations.
He assured that their tasks would be facilitated to enable the implementation of their relief and development programs without obstacles, particularly regarding security and the delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
Governor Shamsan stressed the need to review the procedures related to the reduction of food aid for the province and to establish mechanisms and criteria that streamline the reduction process.
He called for coordination with district managers to implement measures that ensure aid reaches deserving individuals, avoiding arbitrary exclusions in a province still suffering from war and siege.
For his part, the Deputy Director of the WFP office expressed gratitude to the local authority and relevant offices for their efforts in facilitating the program's operations in the province, whether for distributing food assistance or livelihood projects.
He highlighted the possibility of coordinating with districts and relevant offices to reassess cases deserving food assistance and to adopt agreed-upon criteria and partnerships to ensure the inclusion of eligible cases and streamline distribution mechanisms for the upcoming phase.
The meeting also included contributions from relief committee directors, offices, and districts, agreeing to continue discussions with district managers to establish a clear and fair mechanism for deserving food assistance cases, following the program's reduction of 30% in eligible cases due to decreased funding.
