Minister of Planning discusses Ongoing Project Portfolio in Yemen with the World Bank

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Batheeb discussed with the World Bank's Country Director for Yemen Dunia Abu Ghida the World Bank's ongoing project portfolio in Yemen and future cooperation prospects.

The meeting addressed the current project portfolio of the World Bank in Yemen. This portfolio includes projects in the sectors of basic services, economic recovery, and social protection, as well as the progress of existing projects, including human capital, the challenges faced in implementation, and ways to overcome them.

Minister Batheeb praised the vital role of the World Bank in supporting development in Yemen, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the implementation of ongoing projects and expanding the scope of interventions to include more areas and beneficiaries.

He also highlighted the need to enhance coordination among project implementing agencies to ensure maximum benefit from available resources.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation pointed out the importance of evaluating projects implemented by the organization to ensure that they achieve the intended impact based on the government's existing priority needs.

He also noted the necessity of increasing opportunities to expand cooperation in new areas and the potential for providing more technical and institutional support to government entities.

For her part, the World Bank's Country Director for Yemen affirmed the World Bank's commitment to continue supporting Yemen, indicating that the Bank is working on developing new programs that respond to urgent needs and support economic recovery efforts.
