Speaker of the parliament Sheikh Sultan al-Barkani today held talks with the US ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin on the latest developments including the regional and international efforts meant to achieve peace in Yemen.

Talks went over economic, service and security challenges facing the Yemeni people, including the need to reduce the humanitarian impact resulting of the Iran-backed Houthi terror attacks on oil facilities and international navigation lines.

Al-Barakani recounted the hard economic, humanitarian and service challenges the Yemeni people are facing due to the crimes of the Houthi militia, including the confiscation of rights and freedoms, the looting of wealth, militia's nefarious taxes, cancellation of democratic practices, in addition arbitrary, violations, repression, terrorism practiced by the militia against media professionals, journalists, activists and civilians who dared to celebrate the country's national day September 26 Revolution.
