Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi held talks with the Director of the UNICEF's Program Group George Laryea-Adjei over interventions in the water and environment sectors, and ways to enhance cooperation with the UNICEF.
Minister Al-Sharjabi addressed the challenges to the water sector due to the war, the stalled investment programs of local institutions, the stalled national water strategy, and the impact of climate change in the country.
He emphasized the need to work on updating the national water strategy so that programs and interventions are consistent with the demographic changes emanating from the conflict and population growth in the country.
