Al-Eryani: Releasing Al-Qaeda leader by Houthi militia reflects field coordination between them
[14/11/2024 06:06]

ADEN - SABA
Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar al-Eryani has said the Houthi terrorist militias affiliated with Iran have released members of Al-Qaeda, including the leader "Abu Ata," who has been detained since 2012 for his role in a terrorist attack that targeted a military parade in al-Sabeen Square, resulting in the death of 86 soldiers.

He described the release as a continuation of ongoing field coordination under Iranian sponsorship, aimed at undermining the sovereignty of the Yemeni state, destabilizing Yemen and the region, and threatening international interests.

Al-Eryani added in a press statement that the continuation of this suspicious alliance enhances the reorganization of terrorist groups, enabling them to regain their capabilities after the security blows they have suffered since 2015.

He pointed out that this dangerous coordination will create a fertile environment for violence and extremism in Yemen, putting the security of the Arabian Gulf and the entire regional security at risk, and threatening the stability of international shipping routes in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden, with catastrophic implications for the global economy.

Al-Eryani emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities in confronting the threats posed by the Houthi militia linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS. He asserted that the international community's leniency toward this dangerous coordination reflects a misjudgment of the scale of the threat, which could cost the world dearly.

He urged the international community to take decisive action against these threats by cutting off the Houthi militia's resources and promptly designating them as a "global terrorist organization."

He also called for support for the Yemeni government's efforts to regain control over its entire territory and to strengthen its capabilities to combat terrorism and extremism in all their forms.
