Othman Mujalli meets with British Minister of State for Middle East, North Africa

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Othman Mujalli held talks today, Tuesday, in London, with the British Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa Hamish Falconer over bilateral relations between the two countries and the British role in bolstering security and stability in Yemen.

The discussions covered the developments in the Yemeni national arena, regional and international efforts to revive the political process to reach comprehensive peace, the Iranian regime spoiler role in Yemen and the region, the government's efforts to manage the economic hardships and humanitarian challenges.

Mujalli stated that the PLC and the government are keenly seeking to reach an inclusive and permanent peace saying" For peace, we went to Geneva 1 and Geneva 2 negotiations, Kuwait consultations and Stockholm Agreement, we dealt constructively with all peace proposals in order to achieve fair and comprehensive peace in Yemen in line with the international resolutions".

He touched upon the Iranian spoiler role in providing the terrorist Houthi militias with ballistic missiles and drones to threaten the commercial ships and international trade lines in the Red Sea and Arabian sea.

The PLC's Member highly praised the British supportive stances in support of the internationally recognized government, greatly valued the UK's significant contribution to the relief and humanitarian efforts in Yemen that have been very helpful to the Yemeni people.

Mujalli pointed out to the key role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in alleviating the Yemeni people's suffering and bailing out the national economy and national currency.

The British Minister of State affirmed that his country is keen to keep on working with the international and regional partners on fighting terrorism and securing the marine shipping lanes in the Red Sea.

Falconer also reiterated the commitment of Britain to support the ongoing efforts to realize sustainable peace in Yemen and support the efforts of the PLC and the government to improve the economic situations.
