ADEN – SABA
A report by the UN Security Council Experts Panel on Yemen has laid the blame for the deterioration of the economic and humanitarian conditions in Yemen on the Iran-affiliated terrorist militia of Houthis.
In a recent report covering the period from September 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024, the Panel held the Houthi militia responsible for hindering efforts to achieve peace and end the war in Yemen.
The report betrayed the magnitude of the chaos and crimes committed by the Houthi militia in the areas under the militia's control. It said the regular attacks launched on ships sailing through the Red Sea, since mid-November 2023, have disrupted international trade and the Yemeni economy.
It also pointed out that the continued Houthi ban on the export of crude oil has caused a 43% loss of revenues, which led to a decline in the value of the Yemeni riyal and a sharp spike in inflation rates, and compromised the government's ability to provide the people with basic services such as paying salaries and maintaining power, water and education services supply.
