The Executive Director of the Executive Bureau for Accelerating the Absorption of Donor Pledges and Implementing Reform Policies Afrah al-Zuba discussed with the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen Serhad Fattah the economic and developmental challenges facing Yemen.
During the meeting, they addressed the increasing need for external funding to support vital projects that contribute to stabilizing living conditions, including sectors such as electricity, health, and education.
They emphasized the importance of transitioning from urgent interventions to investing in sustainable development projects and long-term interventions.
They also reviewed the efforts of the Yemeni government and its commitment to its duties, including paying salaries and providing essential services to citizens, despite the economic and political challenges the country faces, as well as the obstacles imposed by Houthi militias and their impact on Yemen's economy.
In the meeting, which was attended by Public Policy Advisor Saleh Fadl and Policy Specialist Istanbul Ba'abad, al-Zuba highlighted the role of the authority in supporting government institutions and enhancing their capacity to implement reform policies and accelerate the absorption of donor commitments.
She stressed the importance of enhancing transparency to ensure that financial resources and grants provided for effective development projects are properly directed.
