First Deputy Governor of Taiz Dr. Abdulqawi al-Mikhlafi convened a meeting with the Director of OCHA Marcus Werne and donor representatives in Sweden and Switzerland over the needs and required donor interventions in the local health, water, sanitation and social affairs sectors. Representatives of those sectors were present in the meeting.
Al-Mikhlafi recounted the overall situation in Taiz and the inadequacy and scarcity of public services on account of the war and siege imposed by the terrorist Houthi militia.
He pointed to the alarming level of food insecurity, especially after the WFP excluded 30% of the aid recipients warning this will exacerbate humanitarian suffering in the governorate.
