UN Program, projects to enhance local governance discussed in Aden

Minister of Local Administration Hussein al-Aghbari discussed with representatives from the United Nations (United Nations Development Programme, International Organization for Migration, Food and Agriculture Organization, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) the joint project between the Yemeni government and the UN.

The project aimed at finding sustainable development solutions at the governorate level and building the capacities of local authorities to enhance local governance.

Minister al-Aghbari emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts, developing plans and programs, and fostering joint coordination between the Yemeni government and its partners from UN organizations.

He highlighted the need to address the basic and urgent needs of local communities in local authorities and to prioritize developmental projects and programs required in the targeted governorates (Aden, Marib, Taiz, Lahj), where the project will be implemented as an initial phase with an estimated budget of $1.5 million.

UN representatives presented the project's objectives, expected outcomes, and action plans according to a national roadmap, along with work plans for the targeted governorates as an initial phase.

They expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the leadership of the Ministry of Local Administration for their ongoing cooperation and coordination.
