ADEN - SABA
The State Minister, the Governor of Aden Ahmed Hamed Lamlas discussed Wednesday with Norwegian Envoy for Yemen Heidi Johansen, along with development and humanitarian experts, Ole Lindeman and Arne Fulleraz donor interventions and the activities of international organizations operating in the humanitarian field in the governorate.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Secretary-General of the Local Council Badr Muawen, the Director of the Planning Office Intisar Murshid and the Governor's Advisor for Humanitarian Organizations Reda Hajeb, Lamlas pointed out the inadequacy of many donors' and organizations' interventions, which do not meet the local community's needs or address its requirements.
Lamlas emphasized that the support provided by donors is appreciated by the government and local authorities; however, there is a need to reconsider the mechanisms used and to involve the local community and local authority in determining priorities to make the most of the projects offered.
For her part, the Norwegian envoy expressed her happiness at visiting Aden for the first time and listening to a candid and purposeful discussion from the local authority leadership.
She affirmed her country's commitment to ensuring that the support and projects provided serve the community's interests and have a tangible impact on reality.
