Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasem Buhaybeh held talks today, Tuesday, in Washington DC with the Executive Directors of the Global Health, Women's and Children's Health and Nutrition Sector at the United States Agency for Development (USAID) over joint cooperation and USAID's support for the health sector.
Dr. Buhaybeh greatly valued the USAID's significant support for health sector in Yemen, deeply appreciating its contribution to the programs of women's and children's health, reproductive health, midwives and community health.
The Minister highlighted Yemen's need for greater and sustainable support by the USAID to health sector to improve its capacities and infrastructure, including the establishment of the midwives and community health worker program, the establishment of an electronic training platform for medical staff and supporting government health institutes, build and develop their capabilities.
The USAID's officials stated that support for Yemen, mainly health sector is considered to be a priority for agency.
