Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidrus al-Zubaidi received Thursday the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Kafrik at his residence in New York.

The meeting discussed the latest political and humanitarian developments in our country in light of the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab and its repercussions on the humanitarian and service situation in Yemen.

"The Houthi escalation on international shipping lanes is piracy and systematic terrorism unrelated to the Palestinian cause; it is an Iranian scheme to extort the region and the world in order to achieve Iran's expansionist agenda in the region," said al-Zubaidi.

He highlighted the seriousness of the situation amid the continued destabilization efforts by the Houthi terrorist militia, noting that available information confirms coordination between the Houthi militia and Al-Shabaab, the Al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia and the Horn of Africa.

This calls for a comprehensive local, regional, and international strategy to confront the plan being executed by this militia at the behest of Iran, he emphasized.
For his part, the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed Norway's support for the efforts made by the regional and international community to end the conflict in our country and protect international shipping lanes.
