Japan offers $5 million grant for Yemen's Aden seaport

The Japanese government announced today it will provide 793 million Japanese yen (appox. $5 million) grant to support a new phase in the Aden Seaport Efficiency Improvement project. through the UNDP in Yemen.
The Japanese embassy in Yemen has said in a statement its Chargé d'Affairs Higashi Kazuhiro had exchanged memoranda of understanding with the UNDP Resident Representative in Yemen over supporting the second phase of the Aden Port Efficiency Improvement Project.
The statement stressed that the project aims to improve the logistical efficiency of Aden Seaport, in addition to establishing and maintaining a smooth management system, enhancing the ability to maintain facilities and installations, and bringing in humanitarian aid and commercial goods to Aden, by restoring marine workshops and providing two mobile maintenance facilities, and a ship anchored in the port, which will contribute to supporting reconstruction in Yemen.
