Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Major General Salem al-Socotri discussed with Tom Troed, the project manager for the rehabilitation of fishing port at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Yemen procedures related to the implementation of the fishing port rehabilitation project, and its annexes, in the Dar Sa'ad district in Aden.

The project is being implemented by UNDP with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, through the German Development Bank, at a cost of $35 million.

Minister al-Socotri listened to an explanation about the level of achievement in all the construction works being carried out in the fisheries sector, and the stages of rehabilitating the port and the rest of the facilities related to the infrastructure, the administrative building of the fishing port, and other fisheries facilities in the fishing port, as well as importance of the project in enhancing the port's capabilities to serve the national economy of our country.

The level of achievement in the fisheries development project in the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, and the Red Sea, which is being implemented by the United Nations Development Program and its local partners, was also discussed.

This project includes the rehabilitation of a number of fish landing sites in the governorates of Aden, Hadhramaut, al-Mahrah, and Taiz, with funding from the World Bank, aimed at meeting the needs of the local community and solving the problems of fishermen to enhance their capabilities and increase their effectiveness in the field of fishing.

Minister al-Socotri stressed the need to complete the rehabilitation work according to the ministry's plan, emphasizing the ministry's keenness to protect and support economic and development facilities to contribute to the national economy.

He urged the completion of the project stages and commitment to the implementation according to the prepared plans, appreciating the support provided by the Federal Republic of Germany, the World Bank, and other donors for their continued support to our country.
