The Chairwoman of the National Committee for Woman Dr. Shafiqa Saeed discussed Thursday with the Deputy Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement Marie Yamashita and the accompanying delegation possible cooperation between the mission and the committee in various fields related to women's issues.

The meeting touched on the importance of legal protection for women and enhancing women's access to justice, as well as the importance of raising awareness among security agencies and parties to the conflict about international humanitarian law.

In the meeting, Dr. Shafeeqa referred to the problems faced by women in Hodeidah due to the practices of the terrorist Houthi militias, including the drop-out of girls from education, the difficulty of women obtaining proper health care, and the spread of epidemics and diseases, the most prominent of which is malnutrition.

She stressed the need for integrated efforts to alleviate the suffering of women and the violence against them, and the need to monitor violations and ways to protect women and girls from exploitation.

For her part, the UN official reiterated the United Nations Mission's commitment to supporting the efforts of the National Commission for Women, noting that the issue of mine victims is at the top of the mission's priorities.

She expressed her concern about the arrests carried out by the Houthi militia against employees in UN and international organizations, and the repercussions of the militia's attacks in the Red Sea that impede peace efforts.
