Security Council adopts resolution demanding terrorist militia to cease attacks against ships

The United Nations Security Council Thursday adopted a resolution renewing its demand for the terrorist Houthi militia to immediately cease all attacks against cargo ships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
The resolution, which has been numbered 2739 and had its draft submitted by the United States and Japan, was supported by 12 members, while Algeria, China, and Russia abstained from voting on it.
The resolution demands that the Houthi militia immediately release the (Galaxy Leader) ship and its crew, and also urges caution and restraint to avoid further escalation of the situation in the Red Sea and the region as a whole.
The UN Security Council resolution encouraged diplomacy being pursued by all parties to achieve this goal, including continued support for the UN-sponsored dialogue and peace process in Yemen.
