Government demands International Community to exert pressures on Houthi militia to release all prisoners
[25/06/2024 07:27]
MARIB-SABA
The negotiating government delegation on the file of prisoners and abductees called upon the international community to exert pressure on the terrorist Houthi militias and take a clear and deterrent stance to stop them from arrests, executions, and forced disappearances against civilians.

The Government Delegation called also international community to exert pressure against the militia to fulfill their obligations in the release of all abductees and prisoners on the basis of "all for all'.

The delegation, in the press conference held today in Marib Governorate under the slogan "The Release of Forcibly Disappeared Persons is the Gateway to Peace Negotiations", stressed the need for the international community to use real pressure tools on the militias, foremost of which is their classification by the United Nations and various European and American member states as a terrorist organization, as classified by Yemen, the Arab League, Australia and Canada.

The government delegation criticized the complicity with the manipulation of the terrorist Houthi militias of the humanitarian file and their continued erection of obstacles and evading the implementation of their obligations, foremost of which is the implementation of more abduction and detention campaigns against civilians and the issuance of execution orders from the courts under their control against the released abductees in exchange operations supervised by the United Nations.
It demanded the release of all prisoners and forcibly disappeared persons on the basis of the "all for all" principle.

The government team called on the UN envoy and the international community to reveal the fate of the forcibly disappeared, foremost among them the politician Mohammed Qahtan, and to allow his family to visit him.
They also demanded the dropping of all death sentences issued against the kidnapped, whether they are in their detention centers or those released in prisoner exchange operations under UN supervision.

The team affirmed that there will be no negotiations with the terrorist Houthi militia as long as they have not complied with the agreed-upon release of the forcibly disappeared.

The government delegation presented a brief overview during the conference of the Houthi militia's manipulation of the file of prisoners and the forcibly disappeared, as well as the obstacles they place daily, including issuing death sentences against many of the forcibly disappeared and issuing in absentia death sentences against journalists who were released from their detention cells through prisoner exchange operations under UN supervision, in addition to carrying out continuous arrest campaigns against civilians, the latest of which was the arrest of employees in UN and international humanitarian organizations and diplomatic entities, and forcing them under torture to make false confessions that they are agents and spies, some of whom had left their jobs years ago.

The government team emphasized that the international community's complicity and silence about the Houthi militia's violations and behaviors against civilians, including ongoing kidnappings, forced disappearances, illegal trials, and torture in their prisons leading to the death of many of the kidnapped, as well as their obstruction of negotiations for the release of prisoners and the kidnapped based on the principle of all for all and the fragmentation of this humanitarian file and their evasion of all their obligations and the entitlements of the kidnapped and the disappeared, have encouraged the Houthi militia to further manipulate this humanitarian file and escalate it.

Their violations have even extended to diplomatic entities and UN and international organizations, in flagrant violation of the laws, treaties, and customs related to their protection and independence, the government added.
