Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns Houthi militias' abduction of UN and international organizations staff
[08/06/2024 07:51]
ADEN-SABA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong condemnation of the terrorist Houthi militias' abduction of dozens of employees of UN agencies, international and local non-governmental organizations in Sana'a.

The Ministry confirmed in a statement learned by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that this action is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and threatens the lives and security of these employees. It indicated that the government has warned for years of the dangers of turning a blind eye to the violations of the Houthi militias and the methods of extortion and pressure they exert on humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.

The statement noted that through these practices the Houthi militias seek to serve their illegal political agenda, devoting humanitarian aids to serve their security and military goals and turn the areas under their control into large prisons for anyone who opposes their policies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reiterated its call on the UN and all international organizations to relocate their headquarters in the temporary capital of Aden, which would ensure a safe and appropriate environment for the work of these organizations and provide humanitarian services to all Yemenis in all Yemeni regions without discrimination or obstacles.
