Justice Minister meets with Inclusive Access to Justice Project's team

Minister of Justice Judge Badr al-Aridha discussed Wednesday with the Director of the Inclusive Access to Justice Project in Yemen (PIAJY) Won Hok the progress of the project under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The two parties discussed also the upcoming plan to complete the project's phases.

During the meeting, the Minister of Justice emphasized the importance of establishing legal aid teams given the exceptional circumstances the country is going through, pointing out to their role in alleviating the burden as the number of cases in courts is increasing.

He also directed to intensify efforts to better qualify the legal assistants due to the great responsibility placed on their shoulders, pointing out to the need for continuous supervision and follow-up of the field work of the legal assistants, for the purpose of guidance and development.

For his part, Won Hok appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Justice and all state agencies that contributed to achieving the project's successes and facilitating the difficulties it faced, praising the efforts of the project team and the distinctive results they achieved under the exceptional circumstances.

The project team provided an introductory overview of the Inclusive Access to Justice Project in Yemen (PIAJY), and presented the activities that were implemented during the past period, in addition to statistics on the number of cases worked on by the legal assistants and the results of the field work.

The team highlighted the efforts of the relevant official entities, the Ministry of Justice represented by Judge Badr al-Aridha and all representatives of the ministry for their positive role in achieving the project's successes.
