Minister of Finance Salem bin Braik held talks today, Wednesday, in the transitional capital Aden with Ambassador of the EU to Yemen Gabriele Vinals, his Deputy Sara Sadiq, French Ambassador Katherine Corm Kammoun , Dutch Ambassador Jennette Seppen German ambassador Hubert Jager.
The conversations covered several topics including the economic and financial challenges the country has been experiencing due to the cessation of oil exports in the wake of Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militias' attacks on oil facilities.
The government's ongoing efforts to manage the tough economic hardships were prominently figured during the talks.
The Minister underscored the formidable challenges facing the public finance due to the cessation of oil exports for one year and half, given that crude oil exports make up some 65% to 70% of the state's general budget resources.
Houthi militias' reckless unilateral monetary measures and military escalation in the Red Sea were also touched upon.
The EU diplomatic mission and Ambassadors reiterated support for Yemen, the government's efforts to manage the economic hardships as well as the regional and international efforts to achieve comprehensive and permanent peace in Yemen.
