The Republic of Yemen welcomed today, Thursday, friendly Australian government's decision about designating Houthi militias a terrorist organization under the Australian Criminal Code Act of 1995.

In a press release, Foreign Ministry issued today, said" This decision is perfectly conform with the Yemeni government designation of this terrorist group in accordance with the Yemeni laws and it is a response to the Yemeni government call for the international community to quickly work on enlisting the Houthi militia in the lists of the international terrorist organizations, prosecuting its leaders and stop its terrorist practices that threaten regional's international's security and seriously affecting international shipping lanes, international trade and gravely violating civilians rights in Yemen".

The Foreign Ministry reiterated the government's assertion that establishing peace in Yemen requires the Houthi militias to abandon its terrorist approach, and loyalty to the Iranian regime, renounce violence, deal responsibly with the international initiatives and efforts aiming to achieve peace in Yemen, including the UN-brokered road map, the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman and all good offices aiming to put an end of the humanitarian suffering, establish security and stability in Yemen and the region.
