The United States of America confirmed that there are many evidences that Iran has continued to supply the terrorist Houthis militias with sophisticated weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles in flagrant violation of United Nations sanctions.

Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood told the U.N. Security Council: "If the Security Council wants to make progress toward ending Yemen's civil war, it must work collectively, pressuring Iran stop its destabilizing role as it cannot hide behind the Houthis."

In his briefing to the International Security Council, he added " To assert the Council's concerns about the persistent violations of the weapons embargo, we must further act to bolster the implementation of the UN's sanctions and deter the violators".

Wood called on Iran to stop providing unprecedented amounts of weapons to the Houthi rebels, a matter enabling them to carry out reckless attacks on the commercial ships and the international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden
